Many people get a little uncomfortable when the topic of money comes up, especially in church. Jesus, however, was not at all uncomfortable with the topic. That’s because he knew that money wasn’t really the issue. The real issue is the heart.
Jesus came from the viewpoint that everything we are and have comes from God—the God who not only promises to provide generously for all our needs, but also gave up his own life so that we could have and enjoy life to the full. As we take a closer look at what Jesus said about generosity we seek to better understand God’s heart and what his overwhelming generosity looks like and means for our everyday lives.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:25-26).
